Alibaba Qwen Ships N1 AI Glasses With Iris Payments and Live Vital Signs, Plus a Bose Co-Branded Earbud

Alibaba Qwen launched the N1 and N1 Pro AI glasses and a Bose co-branded ear-clip earbud in Hangzhou, with same-day sales on Taobao, Tmall, JD and Douyin. The N1 Pro is billed as the first AI glasses with real-time vital sign monitoring and iris authentication for Alipay look-to-pay. Subsidized pricing starts at 2,218 yuan for glasses and 1,099 yuan for the earbuds.

Alibaba's Qwen division used a Hangzhou event to push its Personal Agent strategy out of the phone and onto the face. The company launched two AI glasses — the N1 and N1 Pro — plus an AI ear-clip earbud developed with Bose, with all three products going on sale the same day across Taobao, Tmall, JD.com and Douyin.

The N1 line drops the display entirely. Both models carry a 50-megapixel camera system with a 1G5P lens, 4K video recording, RAW-domain image enhancement and a first-of-its-kind low-power sensing chip paired with an on-device vision model, enabling all-day ambient awareness — the glasses can, for example, surface gate and departure information as a user walks through a station. A new AI photo-collection feature curates captured moments automatically.

The N1 Pro adds the two features Alibaba is betting the category on. It is billed as the first AI glasses with real-time vital sign monitoring, reading heart rate, blood oxygen and skin temperature and turning them into plain-language AI insight reports, such as breathing cues during a ride or eye-use reminders at a desk. It also adds eye-tracking interaction and iris authentication co-developed with Ant Group's GPASS, with a claimed false-accept rate below one in a million; users confirm Alipay look-to-pay transactions by looking at a merchant QR code and nodding. The company says the Pro weighs about 44 grams without lenses. Translation also leans on gaze: look at an item on a foreign menu, ask, and the glasses resolve what the user is looking at.

The earbud is a different bet: an open ear-clip design tuned with Bose, using a 12-magnet dual-ring magnetic unit, carbon-fiber diaphragm and 0.8mm amplitude driver. It supports real-time translation across 89 languages, live transcription and AI meeting notes, plus a voice-driven task assistant — users can assign work such as a daily 9 a.m. industry briefing and have the agent deliver it on schedule.

Pricing is aggressive for the hardware inside. Standard bundles list at 2,899 yuan for the N1 and 3,399 yuan for the N1 Pro; with national subsidies and launch discounts, the glasses start at 2,218 yuan and the earbuds at 1,099 yuan. The context is a category cooling off: IDC data cited at the event shows global smart glasses shipments up 35.3% year over year in the second quarter of 2026, but China's market down 8% in its first decline, with audio and audio-capture glasses down 35.4%.

Song Gang, a vice president of Alibaba's Qwen business unit, framed the hardware as the physical extension of the Personal Agent — the Qwen app supplies the task-completion capability, and wearables carry it into the real world with proactive service. That is the right framing of the problem, but it also shows how crowded the lane has become: OPPO is shipping Manus agents inside Find X10, StepFun just launched an agent-first phone, and Xiaomi has its own glasses line. Whether iris payments and health tracking are enough to keep these worn after the novelty fades — rather than shelved like the audio glasses IDC says are already declining — is the open question this launch does not answer.
