Anthropic shipped a batch of workspace upgrades to Claude on Thursday, moving deeper into the productivity-suite territory that OpenAI, Microsoft and Google are all contesting. The headline additions are Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion, both in beta, while the Docs, Slides and Design artifact tools that spent the autumn in testing are now generally available on every plan, including Free.
Claude Dashboards, available on paid plans, connects to data platforms including Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks and Snowflake and builds live dashboards and analyses from plain-language questions. Each chart displays its own refresh time and exposes the SQL behind it, and the result stays current as the underlying data changes - an explicit attempt to make Claude something a finance or operations team keeps open all day rather than a chat window it visits.
Claude Motion, in beta for Team and Enterprise customers, turns reports, charts or product walkthroughs into short animated explainers. The animations are written as editable code rather than generated as footage, and they export as MP4 files. Both features are off by default for Enterprise organizations under admin settings; Looker, monday.com and Tableau support for Dashboards, and Canva and Captions support for Motion, are listed as coming.
The release also folds Claude's chat and cowork modes into a single interface, with the model deciding on its own whether a request calls for a quick answer or sustained multi-step work. Conversations now persist in the cloud, so a session started on a laptop continues on a phone. Anthropic says the workflow runs on the Claude 5.5 family - Opus 5.5 for open-ended exploration and Sonnet 5.5 for fast, narrow edits like swapping a chart or adjusting a color palette.
The artifact suite picked up the rest of the enterprise plumbing in the same pass: team editing, admin-controlled external sharing, PowerPoint and PDF exports that preserve formatting, editable Google Slides exports and mobile editing. In Docs, teammates can tag @Claude in a comment to request a change. Anthropic says more than 45 million documents, decks and designs have been created in Claude to date - a company figure, but one that explains why the standalone Claude Design site is being folded into the main product, closing on December 14.
The pattern across the industry is converging on the same conclusion: the assistant is becoming the workspace. Google put its new agent inside Gmail and Sheets this week, Microsoft is wiring persistent agents into Windows and Copilot, and Anthropic's answer is to make Claude the place where data becomes dashboards and reports become videos - no code, and no second tab, required.
