Grok Bot Gets Its Own @mail.grokbot.com Inbox: SpaceXAI's Agent Stops Borrowing Yours

SpaceXAI's Grok Bot is rolling out dedicated email inboxes on the mail.grokbot.com domain, letting the agent sign up for services, contact businesses and schedule with people without touching a user's personal mailbox. It is the agent's second major upgrade this week after a Claude-powered intelligence boost. Limits, approval flows and retention policies remain undisclosed.

Grok Bot, SpaceXAI's agent app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, is getting its own email addresses. The official @bot account on X announced Friday morning Pacific time that the feature is "rolling out to users today," adding that "to claim your inbox, just ask Bot." Addresses end in @mail.grokbot.com and are issued to the agent system itself — not as a forwarding alias for the user's personal mailbox.

Claiming one is conversational: prompting the bot with something like "claim your email address" starts the flow inside the chat interface, and users can request a custom prefix that the bot checks for availability. Teams are a different track — the announcement notes that admins must enable the inbox for their organizations, a nod to IT departments that will not want agents sending mail unannounced.

The announcement lists three intended uses: signing up for services, contacting businesses on a user's behalf, and scheduling time with other people. Until now, Grok Bot's email capabilities ran through the user's own connected Gmail account — sending formatted messages from a draft card, using verified send-as addresses, even digging messages out of spam folders. A native inbox splits that traffic: verification codes, receipts and vendor replies land in the bot's own mailbox instead of the user's, and the separation limits the blast radius if the agent mishandles a message.

Elon Musk effectively confirmed the capability earlier in the week, replying "Yes" when a user asked whether the bot really claims its own address, and later posting that "Grok @Bot can now set up its own email." The inbox is the agent's second significant upgrade in days: 9to5Mac reported earlier this week that Grok Bot received an intelligence upgrade "with the help of Anthropic's Claude," following Musk's statement that the bot would run on Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5.

The rollout fits a broader sprint among agent makers. Meta is pushing Muse, its mostly free personal agent, which recently arrived on the iPad; OpenAI is building out ChatGPT Dot, a proactive agent powered by GPT-6 Astra. The competition is visibly shifting from raw model quality toward capabilities like persistent identity, communication channels and scheduling — the plumbing an agent needs to act on someone's behalf over days, not minutes.

SpaceXAI has left much unspecified. The Grok Bot changelog, last updated with version 0.68.1 on October 7, does not yet list the feature, and there is no help page for it. It is not clear which subscription tiers include an inbox, whether there are sending limits, whether outgoing mail requires user approval, or how long messages are retained. Security researchers will also watch the inbound side: an inbox anyone can write to is a fresh prompt-injection surface, and spam filters must now decide how much to trust a brand-new mail domain.

An addressable agent is a meaningful step toward the "digital teammate" pitch — a bot that can register for a trial, chase a vendor and book a meeting while its owner sleeps. Whether users hand it that much reach will depend on the controls SpaceXAI documents next.
