Oracle wants ChatGPT to become the front door to the enterprise software stack. At Oracle AI World in Las Vegas on Monday, the company announced an expanded OpenAI partnership that unites OpenAI models, ChatGPT and Codex with Oracle's applications, data and cloud infrastructure, in a product suite covering day-to-day operations, application development, cybersecurity and business formation.
The centerpiece is Oracle AI Workspace, a single user experience that connects OpenAI frontier models with Oracle Fusion Applications, NetSuite, the Oracle AI Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Through plugins inside ChatGPT, employees can pull information from Oracle systems and complete approved business workflows, with the governance, approvals and controls enterprises require designed in rather than bolted on. Oracle describes the goal as an "agent-ready enterprise": AI that acts inside the systems of record instead of beside them.
Security gets its own product. Oracle AI Security Mesh is a managed service that uses OpenAI's cyber models to find and fix vulnerabilities across OCI, other clouds and on-premises environments before attackers exploit them. Oracle combines the models with its own testing tools, independent validation and operational safeguards, so customers do not have to build and run their own agentic offensive and defensive systems. Customers define where testing is authorized and control its scope; Oracle manages the guardrails meant to prevent outages during testing.
For building software, Oracle App Composer lets employees turn ideas into working enterprise applications without writing code, using Codex to generate the applications while Oracle handles deployment and operations on OCI, including Oracle Kubernetes Engine and the Autonomous AI Database. Enterprise identity, permissions, networking, audit and lifecycle controls apply automatically, and a new Oracle technology called APEXlang aims to deliver generative development speed without leaving behind opaque, hard-to-maintain application code.
The fourth piece targets small businesses. The Oracle AI SMB Bundle is free to start and includes 12,000 dollars in Oracle cloud credits each year, packaging ChatGPT Business, Oracle AI Workspace, Codex and App Composer for building apps, and NetSuite QuickStart for invoicing and cash flow, with terms and restrictions applying.
"OpenAI is transforming how enterprises solve business problems, from chat, to coding, to analytics, to autonomous agents," said Oracle CEO Clay Magouyrk in the announcement. OpenAI president and co-founder Greg Brockman said the expanded partnership helps bring frontier AI into everyday operations "so teams can build software faster, strengthen security and take on more complex knowledge work."
The announcement lands in the middle of a busy Oracle AI World: the company also announced the general availability of NVIDIA's Vera Rubin NVL72 and Vera CPUs on OCI with a multi-gigawatt expansion plan, plus a new partnership with Cerebras for inference hardware. The direction is clear. With model quality increasingly commoditized across the frontier labs, the next battleground is distribution: whoever owns the interface through which employees reach enterprise data and workflows owns the AI market's most defensible layer. Oracle is betting that interface looks like ChatGPT.
